Abolhasan Saba was born in Tehran. He became familiar with music from the age of three in an artistic family and began to learn the basics of music with his father. From the age of six, he learned to play the Setar with Mirza Abdullah Farahani. At the age of nine, he entered Darvish Khan’s Tar and Setar class and simultaneously continued learning Kamancheh with Hossein Khan Esmailzadeh. After that, in his adolescence, he learned other instruments such as violin with Hossein Hang Afarin and Santur with Ali Akbar Khan Shahi, and he also started learning music theory and playing in classical music during this period. After finishing elementary school, he continued his education at the American School, where he became familiar with solfeggio and playing the piano. He then entered the Higher School of Music, which was managed by Ali Naghi Vaziri, who had just returned to Iran from Europe. In this school, with his perseverance and talent, in addition to learning music, he was able to help Vaziri in teaching and training other students. Saba has also been referred to as “a man who is a complete orchestra alone” because of his ability and mastery in playing various instruments.
