Ardeshir Kamkar (born 1962, Sanandaj) is a Kamancheh, Ghichak, and violin player. He is a member of the Kamkars group.
From childhood, he learned to play the violin with his father. Some time later, he became a member of the Sanandaj Culture and Art Orchestra as a Kamancheh and violin player. Initially, he performed Abolhasan Saba’s violin pieces with Kamancheh.
Ardeshir Kamkar came to Tehran in 1981 and began his collaboration with the Aref and Sheida groups and with many of Iran’s leading singers. He also learned supplementary material in the field of Iranian traditional Radif from Mohammad Reza Lotfi and Pashang Kamkar.
One of his characteristics in Kamancheh playing is the use of 7th and higher positions and the performance of harmonic sounds, which are techniques specific to the violin and are almost difficult to perform on the Kamancheh.
