Dariush Rafiee was born on December 25, 1927, in Bam. He was the son of Lotfali Rafiee, the representative of the people of Bam in the National Consultative Assembly. After completing his primary education in the same city, he dropped out of school in Bam in his youth due to music and came to Tehran.
In Tehran, he first became acquainted with Mostafa Gorginzadeh and then with Majid Vafadar, which resulted in Dariush Rafiee’s acquaintance with Majid Vafadar recording famous songs such as: “Zohreh”, “Shabe Entezar”, “Golenar” and many other famous songs. Rafiee was also familiar with Javad Badizadeh, a famous Iranian singer, so that he was almost a permanent member of his family.
