Hassan Manouchehri Hakim was born in Tehran in 1934. After completing his primary education, he studied music and oud playing at the National Music Conservatory under the supervision of Ruhollah Khaleghi, Abolhasan Saba, Nasrallah Zarrin Panjeh, and Hossein Tehrani in 1949. After graduating in 1957, he began his collaboration with music groups and orchestras of the Ministry of Culture and Arts and Radio Iran. From the beginning of the formation of the National Instruments Group under the leadership of Faramarz Payvar, he collaborated with this group as an oud player and performed concerts with these groups in Iran and other countries. From his youth, Manouchehri learned to make oud instruments in the workshop of the Ministry of Culture and Arts under the supervision of Ebrahim Ghanbari Mehr, and in the last three decades of his life, he built ouds in a workshop he had established for repairing and restoring Iranian instruments. He passed away in Tehran in 2010.
