Hossein Alizadeh was born in 1951 in the Seyed Nasr al-Din area of Tehran Bazaar to a father from Urmia and a mother from Arak. After studying at the Music Conservatory, he went to the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran and at the same time learned and performed concerts at the Center for the Preservation and Propagation of Music. He studied music with Houshang Zarif, Habibullah Salehi, Mahmoud Karimi, Ali Akbar Shahnazi, Dariush Safwat, Nourali Boroumand, Saeed Hormozi, Yousef Foroutan and Abdullah Davami, and in the early 1980s he also studied at the Free University of Berlin.
Alizadeh joined the Rudaki Orchestra in 1968. As a member of the Chavosh Association, along with other masters of Iranian music, including Mohammad Reza Lotfi and Parviz Meshkatian, he performed immortal works in Iranian music in the name of the Chavosh album collection, and by teaching music students, he had an important impact on the training of musicians and players after the revolution. An important part of the revolutionary compositions of that time, including the composition of Shahid with the voice of Shahram Nazeri, was made by Alizadeh during that period.
