Category: Hossein Behrouzinia

Hossein Behroozinia entered the Iranian Music Conservatory at the age of 9 and started playing the Tar under the supervision of Reza Vahdani, learned to play the Oud with Mansour Nariman, and learned the Iranian music repertoire from Mohammadreza Lotfi.

Behroozinia’s talent blossomed so quickly that at the age of 17, he was invited to work and teach at the Center for the Preservation and Propagation of Iranian Music.

Opportunities and advancements quickly followed one another, and he was asked to take responsibility for the production and training of that center.

He has always strived to teach the Barbat and train students. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America and has held many concerts. He has also collaborated with prominent Iranian groups and orchestras such as the Iranian plucked instrument orchestra, the Aref Group, the Molana Group, and has been continuously collaborating with the Dastan Group as a Barbat player since 1992.

During these years, he has collaborated with a number of prominent singers, including Mohammadreza Shajarian, Shahram Nazeri, Parisa, Sima Bina, Alireza Eftekhari, Homayoun Shajarian, and Salar Aghili.

Behroozinia plays the Barbat in the Iranian style, which distinguishes him from Arab or Iranian Oud players who play the Oud in the Arab style.
