Mahmoud Farname (born 1277 in Tabriz – died January 8, 1994 in Tabriz) was an Iranian daf player. He has been called the “father of daf playing in Iran.”
He was a graduate of the Tabriz music school like Abolhasan Iqbal Azar. His more than fifty years of collaboration with masters such as Iqbal Azar, Abolhasan Saba, Gholam-Hossein Bigjeh Khani, Ali-Akbar Shahnazi, Aref Qazvini and Qamar-ol-Moluk Vaziri is very remarkable.
He passed away on January 8, 1994, at the age of 95 and was buried in the Wadi Rahmat Cemetery in Tabriz.

Not many works have survived from Mahmoud Farname, and several private tapes are available.
