Majid Derakhshani was a student of Mohammad Reza Lotfi and a member of the first Sheida group. In the 1980s, he released the album “Children Spring” with Hossein Alizadeh and the album “Ghasedak” with the voice of Mehdi Akhavan Sales. However, in 1984, he immigrated to Germany and settled in Cologne. During this time, he was involved in teaching music and performing Iranian music. Also, in 1996, he accompanied Mohammad Reza Shajarian as a composer and Tar player in the album Dar Khial.
In 2005, after 21 years, he returned to Iran and founded the Khorshid group, and with this group, he performed 15 concerts in Tehran, other cities, China, and France. He also released albums such as “Man Tarabam”, “Bidar Delan”, ” فصل باران”, “Toranjestan”, “Az Bodan va Soroodan” and “Asemane”.
In the summer of 2007, along with his group and two groups from Tajikistan and Afghanistan, Majid Derakhshani performed concerts for UNESCO in Paris on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Rumi’s birth. From 2006, Majid Derakhshani accompanied Mohammadreza Shajarian and the Ava group in concerts in Europe, America, and Iran. During this period, two works called Ghougaye Eshghbazan and the concert of Mohammadreza Shajarian and the Ava group were performed and released to the market.
