Mohammad Delnavazi was born in Tehran on March 1, 1954. After completing elementary school, he enrolled in the National Music Conservatory in 1966 and began playing the Tar with Ahmad Rahmanpour and later with Hooshang Zarif. He also learned about instrumental and vocal arrangements from Ali-Akbar Shahnazi and Mahmoud Karimi. In 1971, he joined the National Instruments Group of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, led by Faramarz Payvar, as a Robab player and continued to collaborate with the group until its dissolution. Delnavazi began learning to play the Oud independently in 1975 and in 1977 he received a bachelor’s degree in Tar performance. He also collaborated with the Samaei and Saba orchestras in radio, and the traditional orchestra of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, and performed concerts in Iran and other countries.
