Mohammad Moghaddasi (Tehran, born October 2, 1939)

Iranian violinist and kamancheh player and teacher. Simultaneously with his secondary education, he learned violin with Ali Tajvidi and Farhad Fakhreddini, and later in Abolhasan Saba’s class. After graduating from high school, he went to the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran and learned scientific music and kamancheh with professors such as Dariush Safvat, Noorali Khan Boroumand and Ali Asghar Bahari. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in music, Moghaddasi started working with the Center for the Preservation and Dissemination of Iranian Traditional Music as a teacher and player of violin and kamancheh. He has participated in many concerts organized by this center, both inside and outside the country (including in Scotland, the Netherlands, England, France, India, Germany, Turkey, Mexico, Sweden, Oman, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Japan, Spain, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Greece, Tunisia, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and the United Arab Emirates).

Other activities include teaching in Tehran high schools, Isfahan Music Conservatory, Seda and Sima Music Conservatory, Boys’ High School of Music, Al-Zahra University, Faculty of Art and Architecture of Islamic Azad University, Tehran Central Branch, Faculty of Music, Karaj Campus and جامع علمی کاربردی University. Moghaddasi holds a first-class art degree (equivalent to a doctorate) from the Council for the Evaluation of Artists (affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Guidance). During his years of activity in the Center for the Preservation and Dissemination of Music, Moghaddasi has performed with artists such as Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Nouruddin Razavi Sarvestani, Bahram Sarang, Parisa and the groups of Faramarz Payvar, Darvish, Nava, Neyriz, Khojasteh, the Center for Preservation and Dissemination Group and Oshagh Group in many concerts in different cities of Iran and many countries of the world.
