Reza Shafieian was born in Tehran on April 4, 1941. He started playing the violin at the age of 13. Then, in 1956, encouraged by his father, he started learning the Santur with Abolhasan Saba and continued to learn the Santur for 6 years with Faramarz Payvar at the Conservatory of Music. After graduating from the Conservatory of Music, in 1962, he started working with the Ministry of Culture and Art Orchestra, and from 1964, he started his artistic activity in radio orchestras.
