Golpayegani passed away on the evening of November 4, 2023, at Nikan Hospital due to cardiac arrest. His body was buried on November 7th in the artists’ section of Behesht-e Zahra cemetery. He had requested in his will to be buried in Zahir al-Dawlah Cemetery next to the tomb of Morteza Mahjoubi, but permission for this was not granted.
