All these images in the mirror of illusions amassed.
All these images of wine and diverse forms it displayed,
Are but a gleam of the cupbearer’s face in the goblet swayed.
What can the compass do but follow the turning sphere?
Whoever falls into the cycle of passing year.
Love’s jealousy sealed the lips of all the elite,
How did His sorrow’s secret reach the common street?
